PRESCOTT – There was a new venue for the Annual Hines Safety and Awards Banquet Saturday.

This year, for the first time, the event was held at the Barn and Willow Oaks instead of the Hempstead County Coliseum. Nobody seemed to mind as the employees took the opportunity to catch up with one another and swap stories. The place was filled with employees and their families. A table at the front of the building held the awards, while door prizes were next to it.

Kris Kelley was the emcee. He welcomed everyone to the banquet reminding them the company has been in operation since 1936. “We’re here to celebrate the employees,” he said. Kelley reminded all it takes the entire team to make things work and everyone has to work together. The drivers, he continued, drove 7.7 million miles this year hauling approximately 36 billion tons of material – all working to keep the company moving forward.

“This is a small way to show our appreciation for all you do for Hines Trucking,” he said.

There was a special table with a photo, candles and roses, set aside to remember Laura Bradley who died last August. She worked with Hines more than 20 years. Kelley said she was a kind, caring person who was dedicated and fun. ” She will be missed.”

From there, it was awards time, with with the Million Mile Club recognized first. This was followed by the recognition of the office and maintenance staff. Then came the tire awards, new employee recognition, years of service awards, service recognition, custodian recognition, top revenue, top loads, most miles, best MPG, accident free miles, shop employee of the year, trainer recognition, trainer of the year, flatbed driver of the year and short haul driver of the year.

Door prized were drawn with the winners going home happy with their swag.
