DeAnn Holds Junior Firefighter’s Training Program

DeAnn has begun a Junior Firefighter’s Training Program. An introduction was held on Saturday morning (8-3) at 10am. The rules for the program were covered.
There were ten fire station rules including no running in the station or playing in the fire trucks, required wearing of closed toe shoes, no horse play or fighting and students must be quiet when the teacher talks and follow the teacher’s directions. As there will be random tests, the students are expected to always be ready. The training is for those aged 6-16.
To sign up each person must complete an application and have the signature from a public official, parental/guardian release forms and release forms to ride apparatus.
Participants must have a ride to the fire station and are expected to behave well both at the fire station and at school and are expected to attend all sessions.
The topics covered include Personal Protective Equipment, Reading Smoke, Search and Rescue, Vehicular Extrication and Fighting Forest Fires (Wild One).
The training will expose the participants to the people fire fighters deal with – Hempstead Sheriffs, Bypass Diesel and Wrecker Service, Pafford Medical Services and hopefully Hope Police Department.
A homework assignment was given for students to draw a house, two quickest exits and a meeting place outside the house in case of a fire.
