Hope School Board

The Hope School Board met in the high school auditorium on Tuesday (11-19). The Bboard meeting was on the date of the board’s president and “Happy Birthday” was sung to him.

The board approved the previous meeting’s minutes and expenditures. The Superintendent’s Report awards went to those connected with the High School this meeting. There was a salary schedule numbers update which involves looking at increases for the future.  This information was only for discussion this month.
The new business included the reimbursement of ABC staff for extra hours worked and a discussion on the Graves property. The property is on the bypass near the high school and could potentially be used for sports. The property was appraised at up to $120,000.
The classified personnel policy was updated to allow classified staff to take leave before the holidays. This has already been allowed for the certified staff.
There was a Desegregation Update by Whitney Moore. She will come back in December and show a draft of the unitary motion.
An administrative and classified staff Incentive bonus of $1,000 to come from the operating budget was approved. Certified teachers are already receiving a bonus of $3,100 paid for by a grant.
Other business included consideration of a school choice policies update and “Promise Study” consideration.  Both these were tabled. There were two facilities rental requests. The first was approved retroactively as the event already took place and the other was dropped as the board understood the event had been cancelled.
There was a student hearing in executive session. The board accepted the superintendent’s recommendation for both students in separate motions.
The November personnel packet was approved and the meeting adjourned.
