Elections Set for May 13th

In Nevada County there’s an upcoming election in which two issues will be on the ballot. The first is a sales tax of .75% within Nevada County. This is to be used for General Funds. The other is the Annual Emmett/Blevins school tax levy of 31.30 mills.  There is no change on this levy but it has to be voted on by the public.

On the same dates Hempstead County will be having elections as well for the millage and School Board positions Zone 1 and 6. For zone 1 Janus Milus and Lakesha Jones are running to finish out Viney Johnson’s term. For Zone 6 Nathaniel Holyfield and Sylvia Brown are running. There is no change on the millage.

Early voting will run May 6-12 and regular voting on May 13th.
