Shirley Ann Williams-Brown was born in Hope, Arkansas, on July 2, 1952, to Leroy Williams Jr. and Lorener Allen Reed. At an early age, she accepted Christ and was baptized at Rising Star Baptist Church.

During her adolescent years, Shirley attended Hope Public Schools before moving to Yuma, Arizona, where she spent a year in junior high school. She later returned to Hope and graduated from Hope High School in 1970.

After graduating, Shirley moved to Wichita, Kansas, where she worked at Learjet Aircraft and joined Macedonia Baptist Church. After many years in Kansas, she returned to Hope, AR, and reunited with Rising Star Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Jesse L. Radford Jr.

Shirley earned her CNA certification and worked at Heather Manor Nursing Home for a short period before becoming employed at Hudson Foods. After leaving Hudson Foods, she provided dedicated and loving care to her mother at home for 10 years.

On Friday, April 25, 2025, at the age of 72, she gained her angel wings in Hope, Arkansas. At the time of her passing, she was employed at Horizons of Hope, an assisted living facility, where she had worked for the last 20 years.

Shirley loved life and cherished her interactions with others. She had a deep love for animals and was the proud owner of dogs, cats, and, in earlier years, birds. She was always the center of family gatherings and could be counted on to liven things up for everyoneโ€”from the youngest to the oldest. She enjoyed cooking for her family and coworkers and was well known for her delicious chicken, dressing, and potato salad. Her bright smile and vibrant personality will truly be missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Spencer Brown; parents, Leroy Williams Jr. and Lorener Reed; sisters, Florine Hawkins and Jesse Rhodes; and brothers, Clifford Reed and John Reed.

Her memory will forever be cherished by her two sons, Clifford Lamont Jones (Robin) of Wichita, KS, and Orenthal James Jones Sr. of Hope, AR; brothers, Edward Reed Jr. (Rebecca) and Riley Williams Sr. (Carrie), both of Wichita, KS; sisters, Estiza Dennis of Texarkana, TX, Daisy Patterson, and Brenda Morgan, both of Hope, AR; grandchildren, D’Asia, Malik, Kedrick, Cheyenne, Mariah, Bryleigh, Bryan, Wesley, and Orenthal Jones Jr.; 13 great-grandchildren; uncle, Dorish Williams of Hope, AR; sister-in-law, Merri Reed of Wichita, KS; special friends, Linda Berry and Gloria Dixon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
