
Dale William Booker, age 86, former Mayor of Emmet, Arkansas passed away from this life and to his eternal home on Friday, March 21, 2026.
Mr. Booker was born on February 4, 1940, in Emmet, Arkansas to his parents Murrel O. Booker Sr. and Mamie Francisco Booker. He was a retired highway construction superintendent, former manager of the Hardy Asphalt Service in Prescott, Arkansas, 911 Coordinator for Nevada County, and Mayor of Emmet, Arkansas. Mr. Booker’s first Mayor Race was in 1976, with the exception of two consecutive terms – he proudly served as Mayor until February 26, 2026. Mr. Booker was one of the founding members of the Emmet Volunteer Fire Department. He served as auxiliary policeman for Hempstead County at the young age of 21. As he established his home in Emmet, he became a police officer for the City of Emmet. Mr. Booker helped make Nevada County one of the first counties in the state to have an Advanced Telecommunications System for 911. He proudly went to each new residence or business in Nevada County in effort to provide the owners with the appropriate physical address. He was awarded several awards for this 911 address system.
Mr. Booker is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ann Booker; three brothers, Murrell O. Booker Jr., Douglas Booker, Raymond Booker; and two sisters, Myrtle Cross, Dorothy Langston.
Left to cherish his memory is his two daughters, Dana Burnett (Ron), Tonya Cox (Grant); nine grandchildren, Chad Cox (Andrianne), Jody Cox (Ashley), Cody Cox (Sarah), Ty Moses, Laycon Clark, Dustin Burnett, Courtney Burnett, Brenne Thomas, Elana McMurry (Brandon); 21 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Debbie Muse; along with numerous nieces, nephews, friends, and family.
Visitation will be held 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 23, 2026, at Brazzel-Oakcrest Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Brazzel-Oakcrest Funeral Home with Bro. Marc Crawley officiating. Burial will follow at Snell Cemetery under the direction of Brazzel-Oakcrest Funeral Home.
