Former De Queen police officer facing sexual assault charge

DE QUEEN – De Queen Police Chief Scott Simmons has issued the following release:

On Friday, April 24, 2026, at approximately 5:30 pm, an adult female was booked into the Sevier County Jail and Detention Center on an unrelated criminal charge. During the booking process, she disclosed an alleged sexual assault involving a City of De Queen police officer reportedly occurred on March 26, 2026.

Upon receipt of this information, a criminal investigation was immediately initiated by the Sevier County Sheriff’s Department. Officials with this department worked through the evening and early morning hours to gather information the allegation.

As a result of that investigation, Ty Phillips was immediately terminated by Chief of Police Scott Simmons following his arrest on Saturday morning, April 25, 2026. Mr. Phillips is currently being held by a neighboring law enforcement agency on the anticipated felony charge of sexual assault in the third degree.

Ty Phillips is expected to appear before Circuit Judge Bryan Chesshir in Pike County Circuit Court for a first appearance Monday, April 27, 2026. No bond has been set at this time.
