LITTLE ROCK – Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced that the Arkansas Economic Development Commission has awarded $25 million to 22 communities through the Arkansas Site Development Program. This funding will support local projects that strengthen each community’s ability to attract new businesses. Southwest Arkansas Planning and Development District, Inc., proudly congratulates Hempstead County Economic Development Commission on receiving $340,833 through this program.

“Receiving this funding through the Arkansas Site Development Program is a strong step forward for Hempstead County site development. These resources allow us to better prepare our sites, strengthen our infrastructure, and position our community to compete for quality business and industry opportunities. We are grateful to Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the legislature that made this funding available and the Arkansas Economic Development Commission for their continued investment in communities like Hope. This support not only enhances our readiness for growth but also helps create opportunities for our workforce and future generations.” said Anna Powell, President of the Hempstead County Economic Development Corporation.

Launched in June 2024, the program reflects Arkansas’s ongoing commitment to sustainable economic growth. Secretary of Commerce Hugh McDonald emphasized that these investments help position the state to compete more effectively for economic development opportunities while expanding job prospects for Arkansans. The commission received 29 applications during this funding cycle, highlighting strong interest in building local capacity for growth. In a previous round, $10 million was awarded to 13 communities, and efforts are underway to secure additional funding to continue the program.
