Rose Marie Ray – Updated

On Saturday, May 2, 2026, Rose Marie Ray was called to her eternal home, leaving behind a family who was the center of her world and a life filled with love, laughter, and selflessness.

Rose, age 78, of Prescott, Arkansas, was born on March 24, 1948, in Igloo, South Dakota, to Agnes L. Davis and John E. Giedd.

She spent her working years as a CNA and in housekeeping and laundry, always caring for others with the same kindness and compassion that defined her life. Outside of work, Rose found her greatest joy in the simple things—playing bingo, spending time with her family, and watching videos of her great-grandchildren, who brought endless smiles to her face.

Rose was truly the heart of her family. She was full of love, always laughing, and brought happiness wherever she went. She was the kind of person who put everyone else before herself, never asking for anything in return. To know her was to love her—and to many, she wasn’t just Rose, she was “Grandma,” a title she carried with pride and warmth.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Agnes L. Davis and John E. Giedd; her brother, Donald Giedd; her sister, Anita Giedd Buchholtz; and her grandson, Dakota Tyler Conway.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 57 years, James Ray of Prescott, Arkansas; her daughter, Dawn (Andy) Butler of Gulfport, Mississippi; her grandchildren, Trevor (Caitlin) Hunt, Austin (Ally) Conway, Madisen (Edwin) Campos, and Brianna Butler; her great-grandchildren, Gracie, Annabeth, Wyatt Hunt, Dakota Conway, and Elias Campos; along with numerous friends who were like family.

Her greatest joy in life was her family—and her love will live on through each of them.

Rose’s love, laughter, and selfless spirit will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who were blessed to know her.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 1:30 PM at Liberty Cemetery in Prescott, AR.
