HOPE – The next round of Fiber Optic Technician program classes at the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana (UAHT) begins Monday, August 24. UAHT fiber optic courses offer students a fast track to a high-demand career in just eight weeks.
In partnership with the Arkansas Fiber Academy, the Fiber Optic Technician program offers students the opportunity to embark on a meaningful and rewarding career in the fiber broadband industry. Classroom and hands-on field experiences will equip students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities employers look for when hiring fiber optic technicians to install, maintain, and troubleshoot fiber broadband for homes and businesses. Upon completion of the program, graduates will be eligible for the Fiber Broadband Association OpTIC Path 3-year certification.
Classes are held on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings, making it convenient for working adults or those looking to upskill quickly. Participants will gain hands-on training in installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting fiber broadband systems—skills increasingly critical in today’s connected world.
Qualified applicants may be eligible to attend the program at no cost. Upon completion, students will earn industry-recognized certification and become job-ready for roles with top telecommunications employers.
There is currently still one seat available for the August 24th start date. Another round of fiber optic classes will begin on September 8 and run through October 28.
