Keith Barton Russell

Keith Barton Russell, of Hope, Arkansas, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026, to be with his Heavenly Father and his reunited family.

Born on September 3, 1957, in Texarkana, Arkansas, to Billie and Carter Russell, Keith spent his formative years in Hope, Arkansas. A young man of varied interests, he was a Boy Scout who developed a lifelong love for hunting and fishing. He took great pride in helping build the family legacy, working alongside his older brother, Tommy, at Russell’s Curb Market, which later evolved into the long-standing community staple, Russell’s Smokehouse.

Keith proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. Later in life, Keith suffered a massive stroke that left him paralyzed. Despite this challenge, he found deep purpose and grace, spending the final 24 years of his life dedicated to spreading the word of God through prison ministry and other charitable outreach. A devoted Razorback fan, he remained deeply connected to his team, meticulously keeping stats for Arkansas football, basketball, and baseball.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Carter W. Russell (2007) and Billie M. Russell (2025), and his brother, Thomas W. Russell (2021).

Keith is survived by his uncle, Don Thomas, and cousin, Donnie; his sister-in-law, Virginia Russell; his nephews, Carter Russell (wife Sarah) and Riley Russell (wife Mary Margaret); his adored great-nieces, Nora and Charlotte “Lottie” Russell; and his stepchildren, Tiffani and Jason. He is also remembered by his many dear friends in Magnolia, Hope, and Texarkana, who remained a steadfast support system during his final decade.

Arrangements are under the direction of Herndon-Fuqua Funeral Home in Hope, Arkansas. A memorial service will be held at a later date
