Numerous drug charges in Stamps after welfare check

STAMPS – On July 15, 2026, deputies with the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a residence located at 652 Strange Drive in Stamps, Arkansas, in response to a request for a welfare check.

During the welfare check, deputies observed a large quantity of suspected controlled substances and numerous items of drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the residence. The sole occupant of the residence was detained for further investigation and identified as Michael Aaron Herman, 45.

Deputies contacted the 8th South Drug Task Force, which responded to the scene and assisted with the investigation. As a result of the investigation, approximately 90.7 grams of methamphetamine, approximately 202.2 grams of marijuana, one semiautomatic pistol, and multiple items of drug paraphernalia were seized.

Michael Aaron Herman was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Schedule II – Methamphetamine) with Purpose to Deliver, Possession of a Controlled Substance (Schedule VI), Simultaneous Possession of Drugs and a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm by Certain Persons, Maintaining a Drug Premises, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Herman was transported to the Lafayette County Detention Center, where he is being held on a $150,000 bond.
