HOPE – The Hope Bobcat tennis team finally met their match on Thursday, September 17th, as they made the short drive to the Arkansas High School tennis courts. The crew was tasked with playing both the Arkansas Razorbacks and a second visitor, the Maumelle Hornets from central Arkansas. The meet was a non-conference test against two 5A opponents, meaning that they are larger schools, which provided much needed competition after weeks of one-sided victories for the Bobcats. Under the suffocating heat of September, the varsity struggled in their matchups, with the first round going by with four of their five matches ending in a loss. Two varsity players would go on to play second matches in which both Cats won. Although the final scores were not the results the team wanted, the meet will provide the team with competitive experience with the district tournament looming in the not-too-distant future.
