Former Hope Star Editor K.D. McLemore, announces release of new thriller

MARSHALL, TX – K.D. McLemore’s Award-Winning Book Series “The Destiny, Arkansas Series”, has just released Book Two, “Gravitas” and it is available everywhere books are sold

Gravitas, the new mystery thriller by award-winning Hope, Arkansas, author K. D. McLemore is set for publication release November 2nd by CS Publishing of Marshall, Texas.

McLemore’s second installment in The Destiny, Arkansas, Series expands the sphere of the series with new characters as the small town of Destiny, Arkansas, becomes ground zero in a power struggle for control of an ancient criminal enterprise.

“What is The Red Dragon Tong and what is the significance of the Red Dragon Ring?” McLemore asks. “Former Prosecuting Attorney Winston Cordell is forced to confront the question when he is accused of convicting and executing the wrong man for the murder of a Chinese businessman ten years earlier. The book includes familiar faces and new characters in a story of betrayal that extends from the halls of the U.S. Senate to Cordell’s hometown of Destiny, Arkansas.”

Shannon Christensen, publisher and owner of CS Publishing of Marshall, Texas, said the book remains true to McLemore’s perspective.

“K.D. has done it again. Gravitas, book 2 in his Destiny, Arkansas Series, is just as masterful as the first book, Lagniappe. We have some new characters and new plot designs introduced into the small fictional town, but as always, he creates amazing intrigue with his finely detailed imagination and writing. He is a true artist.” Mrs. Christensen stated.

McLemore asks the pertinent question.

“As seasoned Black attorney Mickey Hathaway notes, ‘Gravitas is the influential weight of a thing,” McLemore said. “So, do Winston Cordell and the folks of Destiny, Arkansas, have the gravitas to protect their small town?”

Gravitas follows the award-winning debut of Lagniappe, which introduced ex-military sniper Brock Beckett, his daughter Cissy, and the fictional Ouachita County, Arkansas, community of Destiny. McLemore’s first novel was named Gold Award winner from the Indie-Gold Awards, a Silver Award winner from The Literary Titan, and Runner Up Award winner from Pencraft Awards, for mystery/crime fiction.

“I’ve been a writer who chronicled the lives of other people for half of my life,” McLemore said. “That rich history in human experience has given me the opportunity to see every aspect of character and life. And I’ve used that ‘people-watching’ skill to create a thread that runs through the Destiny, Arkansas Series. It’s entirely a work of fiction about people as they are and who they become in the grip of extraordinary circumstances.”

McLemore retired as the editor of the award-winning Hope Star newspaper in Hope, Arkansas, after a 30-year career in newspaper journalism in Texas and Arkansas. He and his wife of 51 years, Carolyn, still reside in Hope. A native of Texas and graduate of Baylor University, McLemore is known for his attention to detail in literary work that reflects life as people live it and its sometimes-fantastic consequences.
